Secondly, this book was supposed to be a remake of The Magic Flute but I thought it was more about the bells than the flute. This is a reworking of “The Magic Flute” told from a number of viewpoints as a narrator directly to the reader.

As with other Once Upon a Time books, this was an interesting take on this story. Meet person and risk death, get happy ever after.

I thought that Sunlight and Shadow was a strange mix of joy, sorrow, and overall befuddlement. The story is good, sunkight the narrative flowed well, but some of the dialogue felt jarring and the awkward transitions between multiple POV was sloppy characters would switch places within chapters and it would take a couple lines to figure out who was talking, because everything is in first person.

Sgadow think the series of covers I love were the republished ones. I did,however, like that the story was told in first person from several different characters. Not to mention the fact that the point of snulight kept switching between all the characters, so I never got attached to anybody. They oppose each other, though.
